Therefore your goal should be to rank high in both the organic and paid ad listings. With two listing on the Google search results page, you will indeed look stronger than those that have just one result and to the Internet user, you will be a major brand.
The average Internet user is getting clever and becoming wiser about the results of their Internet search. They are learning that the results at the top and on the right-hand side of the page are there because someone is paying to have them served up at these locations.
Since many Internet users do not want to be “sold to” during their search activity, they will not click on the “paid” search results. Instead, they prefer to explore the natural or what is referred to as the organic, results of their search and these search results can be found on the left and in the upper (but not the top) to bottom part of the page.
They prefer to explore these types of results because they believe this content is served up based on its relevance to the search query not because of the marketing or advertising money spent to serve up the query result, which is an ad.
As an Internet Marketer, your objective should be to have your Internet site and content, Search Engine friendly, so that it earns what is called a high Page Rank. This will enable your site and the link to your site, to be served up naturally based on its merit, and placed on the top part of a page of search results and amongst the 1st three pages of search results.
Overall, your goal should be to have high natural Page Rankings with the Search Engines and be featured within the top AdWord listings on relevant pages of search results. Having two listing on page 1 of Google’s search results are always going to look stronger than having a single listed search result.
Here is a tip for you to do early in your efforts to become an Internet Marketing professional.
Make a few searches on Google using key words from your industry, key words about your competitors, and key words about your product or service offering. Are there any patterns?
Are there more paid placements? Are there fewer paid ads? Is there a balance between organic and paid search?
Use these findings to determine what others in your market are doing and what you need to do in order to compete more effectively for high Page Rankings. However, performing both organic and “paid search” activities during your campaign will increase your Page Rankings. With higher Page Rankings, you increase the chances that you can generate two listings on page 1 in response to an Internet user’s query – one for the natural search result and one for the “paid search” result. Having two listing on page 1 of the search results is going to create a stronger look and appear to be more relevant to an Internet user’s query thereby positioning your company or product as a major brand.
Many Internet Marketing professionals learn the power of SEO (Search Engine Optimization) techniques and apply this knowledge to make their site and content rank high with the Search Engines. They learn that SEO consists of two main parts, On-Page and Off-Page tactics.
The On-Page SEO activities uses titles, descriptions, and keywords, associated with the content, in order for a Google search to easily find and serve up your site and improve the ranking of where your content is displayed on the search results page.
The Off-Page activities are associated with having other Internet users and sites creating interest and buzz on the Internet about your site and content. The buzz is created as a result of other Internet users voting on your content, commenting on your content, and bookmarking your content on various Web 2.0 properties and sites. These votes, comments, and bookmarks create links back to the original content on your site. As more links are generated, the Search Engines are told that the content is relevant to the keywords and the content would be of interest to any Internet user that performs a search with these keywords. The more links, the more implied interest and buzz about the content and a higher Page Ranking in the Search Engines.
Effective usage of both On-Page and Off-Page SEO techniques generate awesome rankings on Google and enable you to have many page 1 listings on the relevant pages of search results.
